Preschool Director Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation of the center Ensure that the property is well-maintained

  • In charge of hiring, training, and supervising staff

  • Enrollment of new children

  • Establish the center’s policy, program, and budget.

  • Communication with CCL

  • Manage financial transactions and prepare budgets

  • Maintain the center website and social media

  • Schedule ongoing training of teachers

  • Oversee the planning and preparation of meals for the children

Preschool Director Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • AA Degree in child development, 3-semester units Administration, 2 years teaching

  • Experience or BA Degree in child development, 3-semester units administration, 1 year of teaching experience, or child development Site Supervisor Permit or Child Development Program Director Permit

  • 3 additional ECE semester units are required in the area of administration and supervision of programs in early childhood education

  • Minimum of 3 years of classroom experience. Each year of experience must be verified as having been performed satisfactorily, at least three hours per day for a minimum of 100 days in a calendar year, as a teacher under the supervision of a person who would qualify as a director under the child care regulations

  • Strong leadership and administrative skills

  • Love for children and passion for teaching

  • No criminal record or child-related offenses
